Death of Mercer J Hebert in LaPorte Train Crash

Mercer J Hebert fellow worker on the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern railway was struck and killed by a west bound passenger train near LaPorte. The accident occurred while he stood on the track cleaning an ash pan. Hebert leaves aged parents and a wife. funeral arrangements pending details in Goshen.

Prohibition Meet Planned in Goshen Courtyard

Elxhart county Prohibitionists plan a September meeting in the Goshen courtyard with date to be announced. A national train carrying Presidential Nominee Wooley and Vice Presidential Nominee H Ho Metcaif will stop for an hour on Main Street. County Chairmen Work, of Eiknart, coordinated arrangements. All prohibition state ticket candidates will ride the train, which tours every state.

William W. H. Long aged 25 and Lulu B. Feller aged 19 from near La Grange married in Fort Wayne after traveling from home to Rome City for an assembly. The wedding occurred Tuesday morning and was described as not an elopement but bearing a romantic tinge.

Sheriff Returns From Toledo On Richland Gang Lead

Deputy Sheriff I L Clark of Kalamazoo returned Tuesday night from Toledo where an arrest order for “Little Joe” Harrington was checked. The man proved not to be Little Joe but knew the Lake Shore gang. Frank and Mrs Frank Coates of the city bought a $750 gold harp for daughter Grazulla Coates in Chicago from Lyon and Healy.
