Tornado Damages Bass Lake Resort Area in Indiana

A northwest tornado at 5:50 PM yesterday caused extensive damage to Bass Lake resort cottages in Kokomo region. Wires were down around the lake and cottages along the east shore lost roofs and porches, with trees damaged. no deaths or serious injuries reported.

Triple Killing in Battle Creek Blamed on Jealousy

John R Wells a 70 year old retired merchant killed his wife Ella 68 and then himself after leaving a note claiming he had killed Mrs. Stewart 58 whose body was found ten miles southeast of Battle Creek. Police say Wells and Mrs Stewart were seen together earlier and jealousy is the theory for the murders.

She seeks custody of their five year old daughter Betty Jane, $2500 alimony and $50 attorneys fees. The couple married June 9 1916 and separated last Sunday. An addition to Violett cemetery two and a half miles south of Goshen is being planned. Councilmen Baker White and Bigler, appointed by Mayor Rimpler to conduct an inquiry, will submit recommendations soon.
