The Associated Press reports a 0.3 percent drop in the April federal income estimate for the current fiscal year. Government receipts are now forecast at 4.2176 billion dollars, down from 4.0476 billion previously, with expenditures slightly reduced. The deficit, about 5.06 billion, reflects weaker internal revenue and interest on foreign obligations.
A west bound New York Central passenger train stopped near Mishawaka after a child threw a pocketbook from a Conductor reported a passenger had lost her purse containing funds. Within minutes a sewer operator in Grismere track area located the bag and recovered it. The owner and relatives were notified.
Captain Alexander M. Scott of Indianapolis died suddenly of apoplexy at the Indiana Tourist Association reunion in St. Petersburg Florida. He was recorder of the Indiana commandery of the Sevral Legion since 1900 and served as a city figure here.

Welch August 6 detective Cirl Lively Baldwin Betts says he killed Sid Hatfield and partner in what he describes as self defense after Hatfield threatened his life since last February. He says the melee outside the court house lasted seconds and cites both Hatfield and Chambers drawing weapons as provocation.
South Bend Aug 6 Barney Swartz a longtime foreman at Studebaker Mt Co aged about 70 committed suicide by jumping from the Sample Street bridge into the St Joseph River yesterday afternoon. His body was recovered two hours later under the Grand Trunk railway bridge. Despondency old age and prolonged illness were given as reasons.

New York Central officials indicate plans to prosecute those who moved Engineer DLL Flynn’s body from the hospital before an inquest. Coroner Clockunpacker of St Joseph County says moving a body before the coroner’s arrival is improper except in justified cases. Flynn’s body was taken to Elkhart, Dr Crumpacker notified, and an Elkhart inquest is ongoing with no verdict yet.
Two racing motorists on the Lincoln Highway near the Smoker home east of town collided with a Paige car around midnight. The Paige driver escaped injury and the others fled. damage to the Paige car estimated at 300 dollars. Authorities recovering details as the owner left by train.
Funeral services for Drivate Lane Taylor of Goshed and Chicazo who was killed in action with American troops at Metz France will be held at the First S FE church tomorrow at 2 oclock. Rev HL Harmon will officiate with burial in Cornel cemetery five miles northeast of Goshen. Members of Coshen Post No 30 American Legion will attend. The body arrived Thursday evening and is at Calp & Sons funeral parlors.
The Gods of Louis Enders killed overseas in the World War arrived in Elkhart last night from Hoboken and were taken to the American red Cross home where the body will be kept until the funeral Sunday afternoon.
A. R. Beardsley of Elkhart buys at par $95,000 in city bonds authorized to take up his earlier realty contract for the Elkhart Municipal building. The bonds carry four percent interest. The issue funds the contractor’s advance for the building's erection years ago.
Washington says a list of all American citizens in Russia will be turned over to Walter L. Brown, European director of American relief, for talks with Soviet delegates. About 100 claimants are believed in Russia seeking exit, with hospital aid already greeting released prisoners. France offered to join relief efforts, but the United States declined official collaboration.
