Clarence S. Dill, city water station superintendent and head of the arc and incandescent lighting station, was killed last night around 8:50 while testing an arc light. He touched the arc and stepped on a copper wire, dying instantly under high voltage. doctors worked four hours with no reversal. Dill, age 40, leaves a large Ohio family and was insured. funeral planned at his North Main Street home with Odd Fellows and Maccabees in attendance.

Lightning strike shocks man near Overholt residence
A bolt hit a large tree in front of 614 South Seventh Street near William Overholt’s home. The tree suffered little damage but the strike plowed earth and cast a cement walk 20 feet. Overholt, on the veranda about 15 feet away, was severely shocked. A large hole appeared where the bolt entered. No other damage occurred.

Farmer Kills Wife Then Drowns Self in 15 Inches of Water
Plymouth Indiana August reports Jacob Reed a 60 year old farmer near Hamlet shot his wife fatally wounding her and then attempted suicide by drowning in a ditch. After a failing first shot he drove to a ditch about a mile away removed his hat and coat and lay face down in shallow water to end his life. Domestic troubles are blamed though both were wealthy with several farms.

Death of Clarence Dill Leaves City Water Station Without Superintendent
Clarence Dill died by electrocution last night leaving the city water station and electric lighting plant without a superintendent. Dill, a recognized mechanic and electrician earning 100 dollars monthly, had held the post under both parties. Attempted murder at Garrett round house shocks workers
machinist Frank Snell injured when Roumanian laborer Joe Polmolia threw a two pound burr through a window striking Snell in the head.
