A severe Monday storm swept Jackson and Benton townships, damaging crops, felling timber, and blowing down chimneys. An orchard at Eli i Tully’s was wiped out. Henry Butt’s farm lost over 100 rods of fencing and his orchard. lightning struck a Osceola area house and a tree near Billy Moree’s home. The city of Goshen saw a late night lightning strike and brief telegraph and telephone outages.

The Western Gas Engine company keeps plant patents while leasing the south face factory to Hoops for one year. the plant will operate as before. Artley Reunion Holds Family Gathering in York Township
The Artley family held their third annual reunion at W. 8 Artley’s residence in York Township on Saturday August 1. The gathering included father, mother, nine sons, three daughters, 33 grandchildren and two great grandchildren with most members within a two hour drive. Additional attendees from Constantine White Pigeon Vistula and near Bristol joined for a noon meal for 63 present. Father Artley’s health has improved enough to attend, prompting a plan to hold the next reunion on the first Saturday in August 1903 near Bristol at Beecher Artley’s home.
