Washington Aug 3 Plans by Republican and Democratic leaders for a final vote on the tariff bill this month were upset by Senator Lenroot Republican Wisconsin who refused to consent to a unanimous consent agreement allowing major changes to be voted on without debate Senator Gooding Idaho chairman of the Republican agricultural tariff bloc offered a resolution to investigate senators or relatives financial interests in any industry property or commodity affected by the tariff The probe would be by a five member committee and could inquire into senators owning or controlling newspapers and revenue of such papers from importing department stores that would benefit from defeating the bill The tariff fight is now 105 days old.
