Edna Spice and Alfred Toms fled from Kendallville after a church visit leaving her mother gravely ill. The couple traveled by G R I, Wabash and Danville routes toward the West. Spice seeks abduction charges and tracking by detectives and a Fort Wayne lawyer.
Frank Carper son of Dr. Carper of Elkhart and former 1902 Democratic county clerk candidate was found in a demented condition on Goshen streets. Sheriff Manning kept him at the county jail until his father from Elkhart retrieved him this morning. Carper, once with a Kendallville telephone company, came to Goshen and halted a freight train at Lake Shore station claiming tramps aboard. He waved a revolver and raved about turning on the batteries. A young man of good habits, he recently returned from San Francisco where he did newspaper work, and then underwent surgery for strangulated hernia in a South Bend hospital, his condition since grave. his father attributes temporary mental impairment to the operation’s stress.
J. H. Vans Dog and Pony show featuring Forest Tempest the educated horse arrived today. The tent is pitched on the Cunningham lot and the show has been greatly enlarged since last year.
Joseph Debolt an employee of the Aetna Powder works at Chesterton was fatally injured when struck by a westbound Baltimore and Ohio Limited near Miller's Station as he tried to reach his mill on time.
Frank White of Warsaw has accepted a post with the United States Marine Band in Washington D C. He has previously played with Buffalo Bill and Sousa in England and most recently with the Soldiers Home Band in Marion.

He said the issue shows how voters are exploited by high cost managers and praised Lawson for exposing it while noting opposition to municipal ownership is misguided. He announced plans to study financial conditions in Europe.
A fire at the Wallace Bros winter quarters east of Peru Indiana destroyed a horse barn hay 159 tons camel building pony building and hospital building totaling about 15000 dollars. No insurance and no animals were in the buildings.

William Jennings Bryan Jr., son of the Nebraska leader, was at Winona Lake with Culver cadets when he developed a suspected poison in the linea. An incision freed eight ounces of pus and he hobbled with a bound foot. Doctors traced the poison to a nail trimming cut. He was later moved to Presbyterian hospital in Chicago in serious condition while his father was unreachable on a lecture tour.

The Hickhart Review notes the Bucklen Valley line from Middlebury toward Elkhart will not be built for at least two years and may be abandoned. The project shifts to Angola and Goshen connections, with experts predicting the Middlebury to Elkhart segment becomes a long interurban link rather than a local road.

Attorney Stansifer of the Winona Interurban railway visited Goshen overnight and stated that graders will reach Milford in one week and that laying of steel will begin not later than September 1.

The Fort Wayne and Wabash Valley Traction Co announces a diagonal line from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis to shorten travel. Originating from the Bluffton line under construction, the route passes through Hartford City and Alexandria while avoiding the traditional right angle path. The segment Fort Wayne to Bluffton runs mostly southward then turns southwest toward Hartford City and Alexandria.
Benjamin Angel of the Holy Rollers at Benton Harbor sends Charles Norris and James Tucker to England to recruit a band of 100 long haired converts. He says the English group is the vanguard of a mighty host due in Benton Harbor within two years.
The State Board of Agriculture has created a new department for the Indiana State Fair. The first exhibit will be at the fair opening in Indianapolis on September 11. Incendiarism suspected after fire destroyed the Marion Ice Company ice houses at Warasa. A man was seen running north soon after the alarm and another in the opposite direction. Detectives have been employed by the company.

She alleges the father is a barber from an Indiana town near Elkhart but refuses to name him. Police seek his identity while they review her fragile story of seeking refuge and fledgling faith in a man who failed her.
Mrs Lotta Osborne Schneider, 17, formerly a Chicago chorus girl, quarreled with husband Fred Schneider in Elkhart over Billy Harper. After separating she returned to Chicago, then later met him in St Joseph where she drowned herself after a confrontation. Schneider, under arrest, claims trouble began with Harper. Married July 24 1904.
Mrs. R. V. Sweetnam narrowly escaped death when she stepped onto the Lake Shore crossing as the Toledo accommodation passed at about 1 am. Michael Enright, nearby, seized her bag and dragged her clear as the west bound No. 5 train lurched past, missing her by a narrow margin.
