Well Known Young Man Drowns After Sailboat Capsizes

Excursionists Fill Lake Shore to Niagara Falls Trip
The Lake Shore ferried many excursionists to Niagara Falls on Thursday. Three trains between Chicago and Toledo carried 1656 passengers, with several returning Sunday morning. A Wawasee Saturday dance drew about 75 couples and featured an opening cake walk and Carter Smith orchestra from Indianapolis. Tomorrow a Lagrange versus city team game invites local sports enthusiasts to Goshen. A dime reception is planned by the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society of the First Methodist Church.

A violent kitchen brawl at the Wawasee Inn Sunday involved Isaac Booker chef from Chicago and Albert Webb Indianapolis waiter. Webb fired at Booker three times but did not discharge. Booker chased Webb with a carving knife as guests cowered. Landlord Wiggins intervened but renewed fighting halted only after an hour delay to serve dinner.

Niagara Falls Excursionists Enjoyed the Sights Immensely
Lewiston New York August 1 1903 on board the Steamer Corona Friend Beane we arrived at Niagara Falls about 11 oclock Friday morning two hours later than schedule time. The first thing we did set our watches one hour later which meant 12 oclock eastern time. We traveled with a 14 car train after Kendallville and Toledo detours. A wreck near Cleveland caused a 15 minute delay but no other mishap marred the trip. We visited the Falls explored the cave of the winds and viewed the Canadian side noting its neglect. Clifton House lodging proved expensive so we rented a private room. The next day a short N C railroad ride along Niagara river to Lewiston offered grand scenery. A ten-person party including Dr Dreese Mrs Ricketts and others enjoyed the boat trip and we reached Toronto by 10:30 then proceeded to Berlin. WILL W SCHERLING
