He served as foreman in Goshen Democrat and Elkhart Review plants and led local typographical unions. Cleo Smith a Goshen native died of tuberculosis and pneumonia at his parents home near Elkhart. He had served as clerk of the Elkhart draft board and was married to Effie Davis with a son Robert. The American Legion post will handle his funeral.
