Gonzales Art Group to Stage Tenth Come and Take It Show

The Gonzales Art Group hosts the tenth Competitive Art Show and Sale as part of the Come and Take It celebration on October 2 at The Shade on the Court House lawn. Founded 1966 by Evelyn Stella the group began on St. Louis Street and moved to the Court House lawn in 1967 attracting Texas artists.

Gonzales Council Receives Phase Two Water Plant Bids

At a Monday night meeting the Gonzales City Council reviewed bids for phase two of the water treatment plant improvements. Bids cover a new ground storage tank and rehab of the 840000 gallon reservoir with two tank size options to be checked for accuracy before the next meeting when an award is expected.

Homecoming Queen to be crowned at Apache-St. Gerard game

Denise Fougerat will be crowned Homecoming Queen at halftime of the Apache-St. Gerard football game Friday night. Fred A. Havel Jr will crown her, Thomas Burrows will present a bouquet, Michael Simper will escort, and Sandra Karnau will be flower girl. Duchess and princess honors are listed for senior through freshman classes, with the Apache Band providing music and a seventh grade honor guard.

Dechman crowned Miss Gonzales in 1976 pageant

Miss Dechman daughter of Mr and Mrs J N Dechman was named Miss Gonzales 1976 at Gonzales High School gym. She also won Best Talent and will receive a $100 Rotary Club scholarship when college begins. First runner up Lori Shuler, second runner up Kristie Joy Seidel, and several congeniality and Little Mister/ Miss divisions announced.

Local notice invites residents to visit Gonzales for an open house event. Attendees can browse a selection of pictures suitable for mantels and sofas and are encouraged to say hello. The friendly invite highlights a welcoming community mood.

Lions Host Rodeo in Gonzales Come and Take It Event

The ninth annual rodeo sponsored by the Gonzales Lions Clubs will be September 30 and October 2 at 8 p.m. in Independence Park. Events include bareback riding calf roping steer dogging team roping open barrel racing and bull riding with a wild steer saddling contest and a chicken scramble for kids under 12. Tickets range from free for 11 and under to 2 for adults 2.50 for Saturday reserved seats. Tickets available at local shops or at the arena box office.

Nagelmueller Rites Held for Infant Chad Nagelmueller

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Moulton for Chad William Nagelmueller six week old son of Mr and Mrs William F Nagelmueller Jr of Gonzales. Burial followed at Moulton Catholic Cemetery with pallbearers including uncles and cousins.
