London papers report Bulgaria on the move amid Balkan tensions. Bulgaria's minister says the army is mobilized yet the country remains neutral, waiting but armed as Sofia and Athens exchange signals while British press offers varying interpretations.
A 250 pound carved stone slab with a royal emblem was found by Frank and Luther Gates during a well dig near Minnehaha Falls. It measures about 5 by 2 1/2 feet and lacks date or inscription, prompting historians to deem it a relic possibly linked to early European explorers in America. University of Minnesota historian William Stearns Davis suggests it could be a tombstone for a French explorer or a battlefield victory marker. The body of Charles Vallette was found floating in the James River three miles south of Jamestown. A passing train crew alerted authorities and the coroner ruled accidental death.
