Beach Triumphs In Close Bowling Tournament At Wibaux

The Beach team edged Wibaux by four pins in a Sunday matinee at the Baller alleys. Harry Smith led locals with 512 total pins and a high game of 194, while Jones topped the visitors with 505. A three team event is planned next Sunday with Glendive and Wibaux, then a potential league including Sidney and Dickinson. The season may close with a state meet in Billings.

Big Grain Yield Near Yates Reported

H. J. Darby living on a farm near Yates reports a wheat yield of forty bushels per acre the largest so far in the area. The Marquis variety used on the Darby farm graded number one and weighed sixty three pounds per bushel, indicating high quality tilled Golden Valley land.

Forsyth Flour Mill Damaged in Monday Fire

A large Forsyth flour mill, the Eastern Montana Mill Company, suffered extensive damage when half of the facility, owned by Marcus Jo of Minneapolis and another partner, was destroyed by a fire Monday.

Land of the Big Potato exhibit in Golden Valley

Buel Richards displays a potato bushel at the Richard Realty office weighing three and a half pounds. The eightytwo and seven bushel measure was used to fill the container. The potatoes are Montana mammoth white and Early Ohio varieties grown on the Upper Golden Valley farm this season.

Alleged bootlegger to face court on booze charge

Raymond Bruce of the American restaurant on Blanche street will appear before Justice Stoddard to answer to a charge of illegally selling intoxicating liquor. Bond set at 200 dollars. Bruce likely to plead guilty. Officials vow continued enforcement of state prohibition laws as more violators may be summoned. Tom White fled the scene, later boasting in Yates he sold the liquor, though unlikely to be charged. M Stenerson, brother of Sam Stenerson buried at Ridgeland, Washington, returned to the city.

Lyceum Entertainment Pleases at Opera House

The Sara Ruth Bates Co entertained at the opera house on Saturday evening delivering a pleasing program. Miss Bates performed readings including "The Silent System." Miss Curtis impressed as a violinist with the Russian lullaby and La Polonaise. Mr Barbour's baritone voice earned praise for its depth and quality.

The so called man of mystery often identified as Jay Allen Caldwell has vanished again after staying with his sister Mrs Moran on the south side. He recently attended a benefit dance that netted him 11 dollars and bought a ticket to Glendive, but no trace remains of his whereabouts or identity.

Install New Boiler and Generator in Sentinel Butte

Work began on an installation at the local electric light plant adding a 250 hp boiler beside the existing unit. An extra generator will follow when service to Sentinel Butte is turned on. Wiring is complete in homes and businesses. first service expected December 1, with initial service likely by November 15 at latest. The project will provide day and night power and improve local entertainment capabilities.

Austrians Rounded Up Near Williston After Border Escape

Five Austrian laborers, sought by Canadian authorities for leaving without permission, were arrested in Williston at the instance of Immigration Inspector C. B. Holton. They did not appear at a port of entry and will be deported. Winnipeg will be turned over to the Canadian government as escaped prisoners of war.

Elevator Fire Damages Sidney Building, Valley Mercantile

For the second time in three years the elevator owned by the Valley Mercantile and Lumber company burned in Sidney Montana. Officials estimate the total loss to the elevator and adjoining building at twenty thousand dollars, with investigators suspecting a spark caused by engine or equipment.

Graphic Story of F-4 Catastrophe

Washington reports the final board of inquiry on the submarine F-4 disaster of March 1915. The wreck showed a corroded battery lining caused a leak and poor diving response led to the vessel sinking. Fifteen died in the engine room, six at their posts in the forward compartment, while all aboard were absolved of blame.

Local Riflemen Organize Club Formation Evening

On Monday Beach marksmen organized and elected officers with intent to join the National Riflemen's Association. Applications will be submitted, and rifles and ammunition for range practice will be issued by the War Department at Washington. Winter indoor practice planned in a yet unnamed building. Officers: R.
