Brinton to Speak in Golden Valley County Oct 19 24

Mayor J W Brinton will address crowds at Westerheim Severson Bonnie View and Hubbard School Houses on Oct 19 21 23 and 24. He promised to defend his Chronicle editor position and answer slanders with facts that will interest attendees.

German Submarine Sinks British Cruiser Hawke

London reports the British cruiser Hawke sunk in the North Sea by a German submarine with 350 of 400 crew lost. The admiralty notes Theseus escaped attack, supplies details on landed officers, and lists other British cruisers lost to German action since war began, totaling six in the North Sea.

Dickinson to host record gala day on Oct 20

Dickinson North Dakota announces a historic Tuesday October 20 featuring a world class baseball exhibition managed by Connie Mack and Frank Bancroft a Curtis biplane air show by Dr. Bell a grand carnival and a closing ball. The event promises vast seating and easy access as Dickinson positions itself as the central western hub for this unique day of entertainments. Northern Pacific to Build Beach Branch Line to Fallon County

Northern Pacific President informs Mrs. L. W. Richards Beach North Dakota of a September 1 1914 executive committee resolution approving a branch line from Beach to Fallon County Montana about twenty five miles south crossing into Montana. The plan depends on right of way being furnished by Beach and aims for 1915 crop movements. J M Hannaford signs.

Big Job Voting In This Election

The Golden Valley county election features six ballots on November 3 including party and separate issue ballots for amendments non partisan school non-partisan judiciary women suffrage and county seat. The party ballot lists Republicans Democrats Socialists and Progressive columns with independent Ed Egan and R E Walker involved in ticket changes. The Chronicle will publish the full ticket next week along with additional propositions.

Two Weddings Uniting Harry Sites and Natherine Egan

Harry A Sites and Natherine Egan of Burkey were married Wednesday at the Catholic church in Burkey by Rev Father Minix hofer. Sites is a young farmer and Egan is the daughter of E E Egan, both noted locals. The couple have many friends in the Golden Valley and receive congratulations from the paper.

Marriage at St Johns Beach Church Unites L R Maurice and Anna Green

The wedding of L R Maurice and Miss Anna Green took place at St John s church in Beach, officiated by Rev Father Walphers. The bride, sister of Mrs M J Moran of the city, is well liked. The groom hails from Annadale Minnesota and they will reside there after a honeymoon trip. They left on No 2 the day of the wedding and many friends here extend congratulations.

North Dakota Education Association Meet in Bismarck

The North Dakota Educational Association annual meeting will be held in Bismarck on October 21 to 23. Teachers across Golden Valley county are urged to attend with three days of Institute attendance earning a certificate. Sentinel Butte district plans a pre meeting October 20 and invites other county teachers to join.

Waldron Described as Brinton's Tool by Beach Advance

The Beach Advance calls Atty. C. L. Waldron Brinton's tool, asserting Waldron will likely be next state's attorney when an honest prosecution is not to be expected. The paper defends the claim as a self evident fact.

Northern Pacific Promises 1915 Crop Ready Rail Line

In a letter dated October 12 1914 the Northern Pacific Railway Company assures Beach branch subscribers that the right of way will be graded and the line completed in time to handle the 1915 crop, addressing doubts about the companys good faith and timetable.

Absent Voter Ballot Provisions and Local Note

Those not sure to be home on election day may apply for Absent Voter Ballots and cast their vote. The law allows application up to thirty days before the election. Also, R. C. Fuller departed for New Orleans Mississippi to attend the National Firemen’s convention.

Bound Over to District Court in Forgery Case

P J Hammered was arrested last week charged with forging a name on a grain check for 107 dollars. George Warner was the forged name and the witness. Hammered was bound over to the district court after a Friday hearing. Lesselyoung, manager of 3249 Fifth Avenue South, pleaded guilty before Federal Judge Booth on October 8 to using the mails to defraud and was fined 500 dollars. He operated the Farmers Service company taking notes from farmers under an agreement to perform services of buying and selling for them. Nearly fifty farmers were ready to testify.
