Ladies Band Plans October 19 Concert
The young ladies band newly organized will present a concert on October 19 as a fundraiser for the group. The program includes mixed instrumental pieces, a ladies and male quartet, brass quartet, readings, orchestral and vocal numbers, with dancing to follow the music as part of a season series.
Basketball Dance To Kick Off Local Season
Local basketball enthusiasts plan a season opening dance at the opera house next Wednesday night. Proceeds will defray expenses for promoting a team this year. Promising talent and several good contests are anticipated. Manager Power has fielded game requests and practice will start soon.

G. V. Pioneer Delany Laid to Rest in Wrightville
The funeral of Josiah R. Delany of Shaunovon Sask formerly of this city drew a large crowd. Masonic rites at the M E church and graveside honors highlighted a touching service in drizzly weather. Born November 24 1846 in Manlius New York he lived in Wisconsin Iowa Minnesota North Dakota and finally Wrightville before moving to Saskatchewan. He and wife Jennie Gordon had three sons Herbert George and Dale. He died September 29 after bronchial pneumonia following a severe cold.

New enterprise in operation as the Brewer Stationery and Book Store opens today in the post office building. The shop will offer newspapers from eastern and western cities, current periodicals, books, stationery, cigars and tobacco. Mrs. C. G. Brewer will manage the new business in a promising location serving local needs. Gust Anderson of Mound Minnesota visited the city this week regarding land interests. he owns 260 acres three and a half miles north. He noted excellent yield this year and will return to Golden Valley, while the Chronicle will be a weekly visitor there.
