Infant Burned In Double Granary House Fire Near Carlyle

A baby of ten months perished as flames swept through Rev. J. W. Dudley’s granary home near Carlyle. Daisy Clark, the mother, found one child safe but could not reach the infant, whose body burned before her eyes. The skull fragment will be buried with funeral services planned Sunday. The tragedy cast a gloom over the neighborhood.

Death on Highway Ends Ber t Brost's Life in Freight Smash

Bert Brost a 21 year old driver for E. Sutton died after a heavy load on a wagon toppled near Williams. The bound piano stoves and boxes crushed him as the rig hit a chuck hole. He lived about half an hour after the accident. Sister notified in Wisconsin. Body disposition unknown.

Kastien Opens New Shop In Beach North Dakota

The supreme court rules in favor of John Johnstone in the Golden Valley Land and Cattle Co case. The decision concerns a land section, two years of crop, and a substantial money value. Thanksgiving eve dance drew about 800 youths and beaux to Beach Opera House with Attletweed's orchestra delivering high quality music. A superb supper at the New York restaurant topped the evening, making it the finest terpsichorean event Beach has seen.

End of Corn Contest in Sentinel Butte

The corn contest program and premium awards will be held at the Sentinel Butte schoolhouse on Monday evening November 28 1910. Professor W G Randlett of the Agricultural college will judge grade the corn and address the audience. Hon E J Taylor deputy superintendent of public instruction expected to attend. Golden Valley County Wins Vote To Form New County

The canvassing board for Golden Valley County certified the election returns showing a majority for the new county, with Slope county also approving its division. Beach will be the county seat by January 1, 1910, and officials will be appointed after state certification. The move is hailed as a boost for Beach and the valley amid bitter opposition.

Winter Lyceum Course Opens Next Tuesday at Congregational Church

The winter amusement series begins next Tuesday evening at the Congregational church with six attractions managed by the Midland Lyceum Bureau of Des Moines. Proceeds go to the Congregational church. The first act features the Rachel Steinman Concert Co led by violinist Rachel Steinman soprano Mildred Morrison and reader Ruth Bates.

Commercial Club to Hire Secretary and Expand

A Monday meeting at Logan's store discussed hiring a secretary and securing permanent quarters. The committee favors John Raew as secretary and plans a Tuesday open meeting to rename and broaden to the Golden Valley Commercial Club to include all valley farmers. The farmers largely supported progress at the recent election, while five opponents in Beach may skip the meeting.
