Lower Potato Rate for North Dakota Potatoes to Coast

The Minot Association of Commerce wins a 75 cent per 100 pounds rate to San Francisco for Minnesota and North South Dakota potatoes. The tariff covers carload shipments, provides free stove and lining during October to May, and aims to open a western outlet amid rising coast demand for Pacific spuds.

Short Course Offered by Beach Public Schools

Beach Public Schools announce a no entrance exam non age restricted short course with free tuition for residents. Courses cover English arithmetic bookkeeping spelling penmanship manual training domestic science and agriculture plus electives. Interested individuals should register or request a detailed booklet from the superintendent.

Big Basket Social At Caldwell School House

A basket social will be held at the Caldwell schoolhouse on Saturday evening, December 2, starting at 8 o clock. An excellent program will be offered and all are invited. Ladies bring baskets and gentlemen supply the price. proceeds fund a new phonograph for the school. Mrs. J P Reeve went to Hastings Nebraska to aid a seriously ill sister.

Eight-Hour Law Deemed Unconstitutional in Kansas City

Judge William C. Hook ruled the Adamson eight-hour law invalid in U S District Court Kansas City Missouri. The decision hinges on expediency with the Supreme Court final decision due before January 1 as the law takes effect. Government special counsel Hagerman sought dismissal and constitutionality preservation, while receivers moved to proceed with injunction.

Railroads Notified as Supreme Court Case Seeks Test

Counsel for all railroads were asked to join the case before the Supreme Court. Mr Hagerman says the present suit has the factors for a test case, while James Dunlap of the Atchison Topeka Santa Fe notes differing opinions among lawyers. Some quarters favor one or two additional test cases for broader inquiry.

Charles E. Hughes republican candidate for president sent telegrams to President Wilson congratulating him on his re election. Hughes noted the close vote and awaited the official result in California before extending his best wishes for a successful tenure.

Frazier Tours North Dakota Institutions En Route to Legislature

Governor elect Frazier inspected the state prison in Bismarck and visited the reform school at Mandan. He plans to tour all state institutions before the legislature convenes. William Rosenberg had no comment on appointments. The report notes the Arkansas Hot Springs bath trip for rheumatism.

Rocky Butte Church Plans Special Sunday Service

Rev G N Kenniston will conduct special services at Rocky Butte church on Sunday November 26 at 2 00 PM. Mrs Kenniston will assist and locals are urged to attend. Hilden and Stensrud of Watson Minnesota bought half a section from A P Kukowski for 52 50 per acre, across from P C Erickson farm south of town. Erickson says more Minnesota buyers are coming to Golden Valley.

Klein Juhnke wedding charm at German Lutheran church

At 2 PM Tuesday Rev Treinklein united Albert Klein and Elsie Juhnke at the German Lutheran church. Mrs C J N Nelson played Lohengrin as the couple passed the aisle. Best man William Klein and Miss Bertha Juhnke wore positions. reception at the bride’s parents home, followed by a banquet. The bride, popular locally, to reside with groom on his Miles City homestead. The Chronicle offers congratulations.

Dickinson to Mott Road Project Planned Through Lefor

Dickinson plans a new sixty mile railroad from Lefor toward Mott to link with the Milwaukee line. Adam Lefor Jr leads farmers in financing and a survey by G B Schuler aims to open rich farming lands and enable farmers to get better wheat prices through cooperative grain handling. Construction could begin next year pending farmer support and weather.

Alma Brettin and Walter Hahn Tie Wedding in Gold Jen Valley

Rever end Treinklein married Alma Brettin and Walter Hahn at the bride’s home with relatives present. The bride, famed in the Gold Jen Valley for kindness, will live in Bourbon Indiana after a stop in Eau Claire Wisconsin to visit relatives. D. J. Waldo returned to Hill City Minnesota after months tending southeast area farming interests.
