Sentinel Butte Corn Contest Set For November 28

The Sentinel Butte corn contest will occur Monday night November 28 1910 at the schoolhouse. Exhibits must arrive by November 27 with Chronicle office drop-offs by November 26. Premiums include 25 first 20 second, cash prizes for all exhibits. Professor W G Randlett will judge and rank the corn.

Funeral held Friday for J H Nichols a leading resident of Beach who came from Wisconsin in 1907 He died of typhoid fever Wednesday morning aged about fifty and leaves wife Mary two daughters Carrine and May and two sisters He was mourned by neighbors and friends with services conducted by Rev Willis G Bennett An executive commercial club meeting follows at Fashion Store with local business news and Burkey market activity noted

Methodist outreach starts in Pratters area with new Sunday schools

Rev J M Taylor, North Dakota Sunday school missionary, organized a Sunday school in C A Hubsbard's home at Pratters and named Rev H W Culbertson pastor to form a circuit. Schools will form in school houses north and south of Hubbard's as buildings become available, with revival meetings planned when weather and facilities permit. Miss Cora Simpson of Dickinson assists lawyer R F Andrews as he shifts focus from legal work to the Golden Valley Division Committee.

Death of Herbert Carmichael in Dickinson Fest

Herbert Carmichael, a 44 year old farmer from near Beach, died at Dickinson Fest hospital after a few days with typhoid fever. His wife had just given birth to a baby boy last Saturday. Funeral services were held in Mead under Odd Fellows auspices. He is survived by his widow and four children. Mrs Bauman and son left for Bancroft Nebr to attend a telegram note of her mother’s death. C A Burns returned from visits with his sons in Underwood and Hartland, reporting poor crops this year.

School land sale in Billings county set for January 26

The land sale will be at Medora on January 26, with 90 descriptions in Golden Valley, township ranges 187 south to 142 north and 104, 105, 106. The land is appraised from 10 to 60 dollars per acre and marks the last North Dakota school land auction before fall 1911. Bidding is expected to be spirited as the maximum price may be established.

Waterworks Hope Rises as Well Delivers Clean Water

Chrysler of the Beach Electric Co. reports the plant well yields soft water with no scale after recent boiler cleaning. He says the inexhaustible supply could enable a city waterworks within a year, either by public investment or a private franchise to reduce high insurance costs.

Two Robbers Attack Beach Residents Near Dickinson

Victims Prank Quale and Werte man, threshers living south of town, were assaulted by two unknown men. One attacker struck Quale with a shotgun causing unconsciousness, while the other clubbed Werte man. The pair then stole a few pennies from the victims. Both men were treated by Dr. Bowen and sheriff officials took the report. suspects fled. A forged check incident involving a young man from Wibaux and Power & Wagner was linked to a motive of money, revealing local bias in enforcement.

Golden Valley County to Be Formed With Beach as Seat

The Jackson County Wisconsin Journal reports voters last week created two new counties in North Dakota. Golden Valley will be formed with Beach as county seat. Beach gains $2000 in Free Advertising from the Saturday Evening Post and receives a band drum. Amos Beaty from Beach returns home after hospital stay and is improving.
