Foot and Mouth Disease Here in Glendive Stockyards
Glendive reports a foot and mouth outbreak with about 1000 cattle and several horses and mules under strict quarantine in the local stockyards. More than 100 cattle are infected and will be killed at Hoyt with carcasses buried in quicklime. State and federal veterinarians Dr W J Butler and Dr R A Tracy arrived to assist, while Dr DuFrene coordinates with local officials to stamp out the infection. Baker Wins County Seat By Narrow Margin
Baker has won the permanent county seat of Fallon county by about ninety votes breaking a long battle with Ekalaka. The vote ends one of eastern Montana’s fiercest fights over county seat location with Baker securing the final prize after Ekalaka initially led.
