A suffrage themed photo drama titled Your Girl and Mine played to a packed audience at the local opera house on Tuesday. Two dozen high school girls delivered a moving performance set to the air of Tipperary, highlighting equal suffrage and associated reforms.
The local baseball squad departs Sunday to face a strong Sidney team, aiming to begin the season with a win that could place them in championship contention. Key players include Canty Tilloton, Tilloteen, Markus, Victor, Mulligan, Hougen, Pervis, Tobias, Patrick, Smith Caldwell, Lorenz, and Power, with Richard Thompson leaving for Dickinson for appendicitis surgery.
On Wednesday evening in Logan hall Beach prominent businessmen gathered to plan a spirited Fourth of July celebration. J P Reeve chaired and urged a progressive town event with strong financial backing. Finance committee Washer Rice Stensrud and entertainment committee Clifford Smith Moffet and Dr G M Foster were named with opt to call another mass meeting if needed.
A sturdy young man tried to pass a forged fifteen dollar check at Wall's Eat Shop promising payment to A. E. Parker and signed Homer B. Ross. He forged the name of F. E. Near as endorser to look authentic. Hatch retained the meal ticket and warned he would pay the balance next morning. The suspect vanished likely taking an early train west.
The North Dakota Nurses Association gathered April 27 and 28 in Grand Forks with strong turnout. It highlighted the push for a state board of Nurse Examiners and approved affiliating with the North Dakota Anti-Tuberculosis Association enhancing governance and voting rights for members.
Attorney Ray Andrews agreed to Baker on Thursday returning via Terry on Wednesday. Rain last evening kept many away from the booster baseball dance. The promoters of the ball report expenses covered. The large turnout amid difficulties signals strong support for the team next season.
Dr L G Smith of this city leaves Beach to reside in Medina. After fourteen years in practice, seven in Beach, he has served as county physician and chaired the board of health and insane. Dr G M Foster to become Chief Correspondent for the local Yeomen chapter. Mrs T M Thompson will join later with Dr Smith's family.

United States District Attorney Goff opened the case against Rev. James M. Darnell former Kenosha pastor indicted on Mann Act charges alleging he transported Ruth Soper from Owataona Minn to Chicago and Kenosha to be with her while having a wife in Chicago. Darnell pleaded not guilty to four indictments. A shower occurred Thursday evening.
Dr J J Reilly of Milton Cavalier County died at the North Dakota penitentiary Sunday morning from pneumonia after an acute tonsilitis attack. He was sent to the penitentiary two years ago for a ten year term after conviction of performing a criminal operation that led to a patient's death. He maintained his innocence, leaving siblings in Milton. Survived by a brother and sister, burial to be in his old home after legal formalities.
In Washington on May 12 the Supreme Court heard oral arguments from Kentucky and West Virginia cases challenging the Webb-Kenyon interstate liquor statute. Adams Express argued the law violates the commerce clause if it blocks shipments for private use into dry territories. Anti-Saloon League counsel contended the law applies to beverages for personal use and is constitutional, but the session paused before the express company finished.
Mrs J A Shepard of Beach leased the Bakery in Wibaux last week and will offer breads and dainties to the public. The Shepards also run the Beach Bakery and have earned satisfaction there. Mr Stark plans to remain in Wibaux County as a local resident.
A special court session dismissed the county seat contest filed by Sentinel Butte against Beach. Judge Nuessle granted the continuance motion, ending the dispute. Beach remains the permanent county seat amid surprise and opposition in Sentinel Butte. A teachers’ examination occurred in County Superintendent Kinsey’s office with many teachers from the territory participating.
World heavyweight champion Jess Willard arrived in Minneapolis to join the 101 Wild West Show. He portrays a changed, larger, trimmer man with a new air, saying he remains ready to fight any time and would cancel show contracts if needed.
James Lee known as Glendivelle travels to St Paul for a wedding to Miss Priscilla Bunny daughter of the late John Bunny. Friends in Glendive expect a homecoming with marriage and possible return as a shortstop with a St Paul team. fate of season uncertain.
The annual convention of the state medical association will meet here Wednesday and Thursday. Delegates are arriving, and a meeting of the house of delegates will be held tonight.
Attorney L. M. Burkey was a business visitor in Miles City during the week. Sheriff Smith traveled through the Bad Lands yesterday on a business visit. On his trip he encountered several antelope that stirred his hunting instincts.
The Golden Valley Auto Club elected officers for the coming year. J P Reeve was chosen president C H Moulton vice president R C Fuller secretary W V Hughes treasurer and J B Stoddard J A Kitchen W C Stuhr George Christiansen M Mathison Bert Brown and C J Haijsman named to the board of governors. The club aims to build highways in the region and members discussed road projects including a Missouri River bridge at Medora and a new trail from the Twin Cities area. A special meeting with Sentinel Butte Auto Club members was held to plan road improvements despite threatening weather.
A serious accident near Madison involved Mr and Mrs E Powell of Trotters when a runaway team line entangled in the double trees made the buggy unmanageable. The pair were thrown from the conveyance, Mrs Powell suffering serious injuries and Mr Powell minor injuries, both rushed to Madison hospital with recovery expected over several days.
C B Hance and William Bradford of Clinton Falls Nursery Co. arrive from Owatonna Minnesota and expect to stay several weeks as business justifies extended presence. Farmers in the region recognize the value of groves for beauty and home value.
Dr F H Weirick notes a Hawaii doctor’s letter about the F 4 submarine recovery. Descriptions cover 400 ton weight, four main cables, and Maryland tug involvement once seas calm. Divers faced 290 to 215 feet depths with limited gear, weather delaying work, and a cautious plan to drag the wreck to shallow water before lifting.
Proponents of a new rail line extending south into the Burkey and Carlyle country plan a meeting at Logan's hall on Monday evening to organize how to ensure autumn crops are moved by rail from the target section. Out of town meetings will be held Saturday with a report expected Monday at Logan's hall. Farmers dependent on the line are expected to attend to back the proposition financially.
