Construction Starts on Russell Miller Milling Plant Project

Actual work on the Russell Miller Milling Company mill plant began this week with E F Funk of Barnett and Record Construction Company arriving to supervise foundation work for concrete grain warehouses. W C Helm, treasurer, coordinated with a local brick yard for materials and discussed using Beach brick, while Bartley department work also commenced using Beach brick.

Burkey July 4th Celebration Planned

A public Fourth of July celebration will be held in Burkey with a dancing bowery, an orchestra, horse races, broncho busting, two ball games, and meals served by the Catholic church ladies. Organizers urge church members to bring provisions for a large crowd expected.

Bad Hail Storm at Burkey Again

A severe hail storm struck Burkey Friday night with heavy rain and hail along the creek by Chas Steinman. P. Smith suffered the most damage. Lightning struck Mr. Doubles house during the storm, shocking Mrs. Doubles for over an hour.

Northern Pacific Freight and Passenger Gains Highlight May May Report

The Northern Pacific shows rising business with May freight receipts over 16000 dollars and 3874 tons unloaded at Beach, 1627 tons shipped out. Passenger receipts reached 1518 dollars. total depot receipts 18300, up 8570 from last May. June activity already matches last year's full month.

St Paul jobbers special visits Beach and ahead through Montana

A special train carrying St Paul jobbers and wholesale dealers arrived in Beach Tuesday morning. They toured local businesses with a brass band, then proceeded west toward Glendive and other towns on a two week Montana and Dakota itinerary. Weather was reported as perfect and the party received royal welcomes along the route.

July Fourth Religious Services and Music Plans

A church schedule notes preaching next Sunday at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. On July 4th communion day a High Mass at 10:30 with music by Mr. Finneman and the Burkey choir. Masses July 2 3 4 begin at 9:00 with special prayers after Mass for children.

Miss ouri River Association Holds Beach Meeting

The annual congregational gathering will meet at the new Beach church on June 22 and 23. Programs include devotions, talks by Rev. Stickney, Prof. Kitchen, Rev. Brown, and Rev. Smith with sessions on teaching and preaching, prayer, and the Bible in the home led by local clergy.

Beach Considers Electric Lights and Water Franchise

Beach town board may grant an eastern group a franchise to install electric light and water works. The matter will be discussed at the upcoming June 22 meeting after prior correspondence involving Geo Purchase J R Waters and Sen McCumber. A letter from Senator McCumber dated June 7 1909 outlines land patent delays for homestead settlers and confirms efforts to clear up cases with the General Land Office.

Belfield Dominates Beach In Local Exhibition

A large crowd watched Beach and Belfield at the local grounds but no game occurred as Beach errors and small player sizes contrasted Belfield’s steady hits. Belfield scored 15 or 16 runs to Beach’s 2 or 3. Next up, Beach faces Wibaux, then Chama and DeMores, with Yates or Burkey on deck.

Lee Drug Store to Open with New Owner P H Lee

P H Lee a Beach druggist arrives with stock to Kellogg building once a photo gallery. His family joined him and will live in a north side cottage. Lee, from Minot and a pharmaceutical graduate, plans to relocate to larger quarters in a month or two while pursuing local business.

New Pastor Arrives for Beach Congregational Church

Rev. J. L. Countermine arrives in Beach to lead the Congregational church sent by Supt. G. J. Powell of Fargo. He comes with a wife and son and will join soon. Countermine is a New York native trained over twelve years in the state, replacing Rev. Douglas whose duties shift to Sentinel Butte and Wibaux.
