County Board of Commissioners met after May adjournment with J B Stindard as chairman and T F Roberts E Gorham present. Read minutes approved list of bills paid. Board discussed purchase of J S Snyder residence for 3000 dollars to house new county court house and jail. auditor instructed to issue warrant on title and abstract. further actions include property removal and vault improvements. bills for travel and mileage approved.
Fire at J P Reeve residence twelve miles north of town Tuesday morning caused about 300 dollars of household goods to be destroyed. A can of sulfur exploded during a cleaning effort sparked the blaze, but water supply and quick ranch crew response prevented total loss to the two story building.
Anion Kellner of B R Falls Wisconsin bought three quarter sections of land near town from Siondall Land and Investment Co with Rainy and Holven as agents. Kellner used a steam breaking rig the same day to break and seed. He paid twenty dollars per acre for land within a mile of town. Dunnigan of the same city bought a half section nearby.
Beach crowds gather as land companies court buyers in the Golden Valley. Local agent Smith of Standall Land & Investment Co says several thousand acres have sold and predicts a busy season with crops thriving. Lands listed at 15 to 20 dollars per acre, expected to double by fall. Jane's rains boost growth as rigs turn over land, giving visitors the view of a settled valley.
A quiet May 29 wedding at Judge J B Brophy's residence joined Al Hutchins and Mable Beeler both of Elkhorn S C late of Beaver Valley. Judge Brophy officiated with George Beeler as best man and Mrs George Beeler as bridesmaid. The bride is described as the belle of Beaver Valley and the groom a prosperous young farmer with a bright future.
