Beach Loses To Dickinson in Hard Fought Game
The Dickinson ball team defeated Beach on Beach's ground last Sunday after a tense contest. Beach, led by Manager George Baht and Captain Max Kuehnl, traveled by 3:48 a.m. and slept late after breakfast in Dickinson. Batting and fielding showed bright moments, with Lorenz and Witt delivering solid outfield work and Lorenz throwing to the plate twice. Green struggled behind the bat and a sore arm plus a throat cold hampered him, while Smith starred at first base, scoring and stealing third though a line drive to the eye ended the play. Downgoing injuries to Green and a prior skull fracture to Smith are noted as context for the day.
