Medora Herald owner G W Clemens visits Beach and writes a short, favorable piece noting a larger, busier town than expected. Corrects the commissioners proceedings with deposits to county banks. The Sinking Fund is split among First National Bank of Marmarth Farmers and Merchants Beach Golden Valley State Bank Beach and Stockmen's State Bank of Medora. A transfer reallocation moves $1,000 to Golden Valley, making $2,000 there. Balance divided equally between First National Bank of Beach and Stockmen's State Bank of Medora.
The Chronicle awards a grand auto-piano contest closing Monday at midnight at the opera house. Public and secret voting allowed until the clock strikes twelve, with four judges chosen by contestants to count ballots and award prizes. Voting deposits may be made at the Golden Valley State Bank.
The Dacotah Lumber Co bought eight lots in Block 3, Hunters first addition, on the north side of the railroad east of the Russell Miller plant. Building plans call for moving the office and yards to the new site and completing superior, convenient facilities in the region.
The observation at Experi ment Station recorded 1 degree below zero during the night and 25 degrees below by 7 30 yesterday morning. The frigid spell follows a blizzard and poses difficulties for livestock, though no losses have been reported yet.

Dunham is vice president of Goodridge Call Lumber Co. Piesik Land and Loan Co to open Belfield office after March. A Clocksin to be assistant manager of Yates office. Belfield manager position pending.
The Brinton Opera House was formally dedicated as a play house last Friday evening with Gilmore is Mastodon Minstrels of Glendive on stage. The all Glendive amateur troupe delivered strong singing and dancing, with local gags drawing hearty laughs and a packed house affirming their success.
J R Waters announces new office location near Golden Valley Bank offering farm and city loans with quick funding and low rates. Rumors say Yates plans another bank and saloons in spring, while a barber considers a barber shop, and D M Cooper, depot operator, is recovering at home.
In Washington on February 16 the senate agriculture committee heard strong opposition from the boards of trade of Chicago Minneapolis and Baltimore to the McCumber bill creating federal grain inspection. Opponents argued it is paternalistic and unconstitutional and would preempt local grading systems already in use. Proponents say federal grading would standardize markets and help farmers. the measure could be added to the agriculture appropriation bill to avoid a point of order.
A local resident from Wibaux Montana sends a polite note and $1.50 to J W Brinton of Golden Valley Chronicle asking for higher sticker placement and praise for the editor. The citizen commends the paper and wishes the good work to continue.
Chrysler, the Wadena electric light man, arrives tonight to meet Beach council on a franchise for utility service. He says Beach has a bright future and is willing to invest long term, with other parties also preparing proposals to ensure competitive terms.
Ellingson, a pleasant caller from The Chronicle office, said he will leave the valley soon for San Francisco to join the navy at Mare Island yard. He has two navy terms behind him and feels the service has a firm grip on him.
The ladies' aid of St. John's church will meet with Mrs. John Keohane on Thursday February 24.
