Beach High defeated Dawson County High School of Glendive on their home floor last Friday in a largely one sided game. Beach led the first half modestly but dominated the second half, scoring nearly at will while Glendive managed only two points, both from free throws. Tobias and Letson each hit solid field goals, and Stub Noyes provided hustle and close shots before fouling out. Oleon left with a bleeding nose, Patrick replaced him at guard, and Noyes drew applause for his effort. The match set up a Saturday clash with Mandan's fast team.
Dr. L. T. Guild former editor claims distortion, misrepresentation, and padded circulation of The Fargo Courier-News. He alleges misstatements by A. Y. More about official party alignment, finances, and ownership. Guild seeks $35,000 in damages.
A. M. Hatcher is charged with embezzlement and will face a hearing in Judge Miller's court on an early date. Assistant Attorney General Alfred M. Zuger prosecutes the case. The complaint alleges the defendant misappropriated funds.
The Courier-Forum Publishing Co. and allied defendants are accused of misappropriating about 11009 intended to purchase the Forum Publishing Co. Funds were used for personal and company use after a 1912 repudiation of the purchase agreement. Plaintiffs include Col. C. S. Whittlesey and other officials. suit seeks recovery of the misused funds.
Senator Gronna reported to the Senate Agricultural Committee with a strongly favorable recommendation for a measure to inspect and grade grain in interstate commerce and ensure uniform standards. The bill, known as the Meddler bill, aims to prevent terminal elevators from rating grades or docking trains to harm American trade abroad.
State game board officials led by J. P. Reeve north of Beach are sending out 1914 resident hunting licenses. The new licenses are larger, show 1914 prominently, and include a reverse side with open and closed seasons and a digest of game laws. 1913 sales rose nearly 30 percent from the previous year amid strong wardens' convictions, including two $100 fines in Dickinson. Secret service aids winter oversight of deer and beaver country with continuous surveillance.
Washington February 9 The house agricultural extension bill passed the senate with amendments and without a dissenting vote. It provides demonstrations on approved farming and home economics methods and allocates 10000 dollars annually to each state. An additional 600000 dollars over eleven years will be distributed by rural population with states matching seven years the aid, totaling 4600000 dollars per year thereafter.
San Diego Exposition officials report all exhibit and concession buildings must be installation ready by July 1914. Four major exhibitors are building own structures while others start on grounds and concessions. A reinforced viaduct over Cabrillo canyon will ease access and material hauling. Main exhibit buildings schedule now nine weeks ahead, grounds eighty five percent complete, rains boosting plantation growth. Commissioners travel nationally and internationally to secure industrial, arte and crafts, archaeological and ethnological exhibits and horticultural displays. Spectacular features are being secured.
Paul Gerlach of Allan Saskatchewan, developer of the marquis wheat that won the world prize last year, is in Fargo today and will visit Friend at Borup Minnesota before returning to Canada. He shared how good seed, seed origin, and soil tillage contributed to producing prize wheat and invited farmers to learn from the success.

Fargo citizens at a mass meeting issued resolutions disavowing responsibility for insults to farmers at the Auditorium during the Grain Growers convention. They called for a thorough, public investigation of police chief misconduct and urged publication of the resolutions in daily papers for all to read.
