Charles W. Sylvester, a veteran Northern Pacific passenger conductor, shot his wife in their Belfield apartment above the Times office. The bullet struck in the stomach. doctors fear death. Jealous rumors surround the motive as Sylvester, held by Constable Hilke, awaits transfer to Dickinson with States Attorney Berge. The couple recently lived in Mandan. Sylvester has been with the railroad since 1902 and previously ran trains between Dickinson, Glendive, and Mandan.

Death in Snowslide Near Rainy Butte
In New England North Dakota on a Sunday afternoon, three boys aged 10 11 and 12 were killed when a snowslide swept down Rainy Butte eight miles southwest of New England. Elmer Lee, 14, survived after being buried ten feet under snow for hours. The Hillestead children Julius 11 Edward 10 and Willi 12 died.
