Rural Route Established For Beach Area Delivery

The post office department has accepted a 31 mile Rural Free Delivery route extending from Beach post office to south and around sections 36 82 5 6 30. Postmaster Heath is notified but operation may be delayed due to appropriations. residents may order delivery boxes but should wait for a definite start.

Explosion Destroys A E Kastien Machine Shop Kills Gilmore

Wm Gilmore a 35 year old machinist dies after a large oil tank explodes in A E Kastien’s shop at Beach. The blast injuries include crushed limbs and burns. Gilmore who recently moved from Peoria Ill to Beach with his wife, was a K P member and leaves a wife a mother and three sisters. He carried $1300 in life and accident insurance to his wife.

Accidental Shooting Fatal for Marmarth Man William Keppler

In Marmarth an accidental gun discharge while a resident demonstrated an automatic revolver fatally wounded William Keppler. He died January 23 1909 after medical care failed. Death leaves him near 87, a Wisconsin native with surviving family. no arrests were made. The Bowman County News reports.

Special Bond Election in Beach North Dakota 1909

Notice sets February 23 1909 as the Beach village special election to decide issuing bonds totaling 3000 dollars payable in ten years for debt retirement street and alley improvements and new fire apparatus. Each bond 100 dollars at 6 percent interest with annual interest. ballots read For Bonding yes or For Bonding no. Voting 9 am to 5 pm at Beach city hall.

Arrested for Cattle Stealing in Miles City Case

1909 report states Chas. Gore a young rancher near Carlyle was arrested for killing and selling cattle. Deputies Wynn and Reed found two carcasses and hides with brands removed at Gore's home, then proved Gore had sold two beeves nearby.

Beach Implement Company to Erect New Machinery Depot

Beach Implement Company and Geo Baht commence a two story frame building on a 40 by 100 foot footprint with cement piers and a 100 by 150 foot yard. Con tractor Carroll leads a large crew to finish quickly. The first floor will house offices and harnesses while the second floor will display buggies and a large line of machinery. F W Drum of Minneapolis joins the firm and Baht acts as manager.

St Paul Market Report Raises Livestock Prices

Clay Robinson and Co notes light receipts at South St Paul with beef steers and butcher stock up 10 to 15 cents from last week. Best steers to 5.75, butchers 4.75 to 5.25, cows 4.50 to 4.75, veals 5.50 to 6.00, with stocker and feeder grades steady or higher. hogs 6.35 to 6.50, top 6.60, lambs 7.25 locally.

Harry Townsend of the Liquid Carbonic Company, a Wadena Minnesota native and old acquaintance of M. W. Power, spent Wednesday at Beach, chatting about old times with Mike. The pair drove to Sentinel Butte in the afternoon.
