A movement to organize a Beach city baseball team for the upcoming season gathers pace with planned meetings to elect a committee. Funds will be sought from the commercial club and business leaders, aided by a booster dance to buy equipment and improve the park. Former manager Powers reports strong nearby interest as locals prepare a practice game Sunday afternoon.
In a tightly contested match at the Opera House, O. L. Stanley of Iowa defeated Knute Mohn of Sentinel Butte after about forty minutes. The first fall came after twenty minutes, the second and final fall just under nineteen minutes. Both men showed strong form, with Mohn displaying speed but lacking experience. A good crowd watched as Kid Latta and Joe Novak offered an engaging preliminary explaining wrestling holds.
On Saturday of last week the firms of Chas. Welsh and J. S. Johnson, photographers, merged into a single firm. The new company will operate from Johnson’s building and plans several improvements to create a studio that compares with any in the state. Each member brings extensive experience, promising the finest degree of artistic photography.

The couple postponed their honeymoon to May due to a pastoral call to Sayville NY.
The city fire department was called out twice on Tuesday morning first at nine then eleven o clock. A fire at the rear of the C Kucheman residence would have damaged the garage without quick firemen. A grass fire on a vacant lot in the south side area spread rapidly before brigades arrived. No damage resulted. The High School glee club practiced Friday with Foster's Orchestra in preparation for an April 1 performance at the Opera House.
A packed house enjoyed a delightful Easter Cantata by the church choir with Foster orchestra. Children from the Sabbath School presented an Easter program as attendance reached a high 125 plus visitors. The Easter offering totaled 31.25 dollars. Baptism was performed for four individuals at the evening service chaired by Rev Thomlinson. The new pastor will meet Beach parishioners at services. George N Kenniston.
A prairie fire swept across several farms in Alpha country on Wednesday. The blaze stretched from east of Alpha to the Little Missouri, threatening wider damage until local residents mounted a heroic effort to keep it from the river.
Sentinel Butte North Dakota April 13 Guy Lee 37 a Drake university Des Moines Iowa graduate and Golden Valley county commissioner has declared his candidacy as a Republican stalwart with extensive farming interests near Sentinel Butte Fargo area.
A pretty wedding took place Tuesday at Burkey Church at 9 a.m. Frank Kreitinger married Mary Heinzer with Rev. Meinzhofer officiating. The couple, well known locals, will reside on the groom’s farm four miles from Burker. A reception and supper followed as guests danced and offered best wishes.
The Farmers and Merchant bank building is undergoing extensive repairs this week. A new eight foot concrete wall is being constructed underneath two sides of the building in addition to the ongoing first floor repairs.
County assessors met with the county auditor on Wednesday to receive their books and instructions. The list includes E. C. Burglars entered the Reeves meat market early Thursday and took the cash register’s change left from the night before. The haul totaled under ten dollars and no trace was found. Authorities suspect out of town wanderers passing through to the west. Also noted were wheat market fluctuations with Durham wheat up ten cents per bushel on Wednesday.
The Spoilers at the Opera House Friday offered a photo art masterwork adapted from Rex Beach set in Alaska at the Midas mine. Alexander McNamara leads a plot to loot the mine aided by a dishonest judge, with William Farnum as the hero rival. Also shown were Martin Chuzzlewit and Farmers Equity convention imagery, contributing to a strong week of entertainment.
City plans a civic band to provide year round entertainment. Already over a dozen local musicians signaled willingness to assist, including an instructor offering services at no salary. The group will need uniforms and instruments to present creditable appearances at public events, and community support is expected to grow.
Justice Heath's court opened a tempestuous session as Bartley v Sloss heard. Bartley accused Miller of prevarication amid interruptions, and the pair nearly fought before the judge. The case was dismissed for insufficiency of proof. Sloss had a ten dollar fifty cent cross claim for sleigh rent covering twenty one days in winter 1911 at fifty cents a day.
Beach High School Glee Club to present annual concert at Beach Opera House Friday April 23 with reserved seats at Otto Stensrud's Drug Store. Ensemble includes 18 sopranos, 11 boys, 4 accompanists, and Foster's Orchestra. Program features King of the Forest, Maybells, Pussy's in the Well, and numerous solos and quartets.
A surprise farewell for Misses Florence and Leah Keniston who plan to move to Beach featured a Masonic Hall gathering with Mr and Mrs Geo N Keniston. Friends sang, spoke, and shared lunch while a testimonial was presented. Mr Keniston departed Saturday for Beach, with the family to follow except Florence who will stay through the summer.
Lee and Rice have city waterworks installed at their business. Attending the Essig-Erdman ceremony on Wednesday were Mrs. Chas. Thomas of Belfield, Mrs. Daniel Schlewitz of Belfield, Mrs. T. W. Breidenfelt, Mrs. E. P. Meyer, and Mrs. Henry Kuech of Wibaux.
