New Building Under Way on North Block 2
Work on Charles Letson’s new 26 by 50 two story building began late last week and is progressing well. First floor will house Letson’s barber shop and Larsen’s sewler shop. Upstairs will have four offices with two rented to J. R. Smith for a land office. Larsen plans four barber chairs, a tensorial parlor, bathrooms, and a jewelry store with new displays. Front will feature large plate windows, completing the north side of block 2.

A Narrow Escape From Bank Fire at Beach
Between two and three on a Tuesday morning a lamp in the Golden Valley State Bank exploded and set the desk alight. A traveling man spotting the blaze alerted the depot, the night operator woke the cashier, and the blaze was checked before major damage. The early alarm likely saved Beach’s business district from disastrous destruction.
