Golden sits on the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway where it connects with Columbia River steamboat navigation. It serves as a mineral and commercial center for Eastern British Columbia, hosting the Gold Smelting works, Upper Columbia Navigation Co., and a booming lumber industry. Church services are set for tomorrow with St Pauls at 7 30 Presbyterian Rev T B Glassford and Methodist service at 7 40 tomorrow evening in the school house.
Miss Pennock, operator at Langdon, fell from a freight train in snow and was badly injured. She was brought to Calgary and rushed to hospital where Dr Mackid performed an amputation on one leg. The operation left her in critical condition as she remained brave throughout.
The La Cigale Comedy Company from West Kootenay and coastal cities returned from the west last week to present the three act farce Three Hats at Alexander Hall on Saturday night. Despite their second local appearance, they were warmly received with strong applause and the evening ended with a social dance before midnight. The troupe has won many friends here and can expect a warm welcome on future visits to Golden.
