Pig Meats Prices Spark New South Wales Debate

In the House of Representatives Country Party MP J. P. Abbott urged higher pig meat prices to aid producers in New England and the North. A NSW convention pushed for an all round export price rise to 1s per lb and for flexible district pricing to suit short seasons and high production costs. The Department of Commerce letter noted landed wheat costs and argued current prices were remunerative, with the government pledging to take over produced pig meats through June 30, 1945.
