Eighteen die as Australian airliner crashes on Mount Dandenong
A 18 passenger and crew aboard the Australian National Airways Douglas monoplane Kyeema crashed at Mount Dandenong near Melbourne in dense cloud while en route from Adelaide to Melbourne. The disaster, the worst in Australian aviation, killed all aboard including prominent figures. A public inquiry is ordered as questions rise over a non operational Lorenz radio beacon at Essendon.
