Australian troops used as labourers in Asia reports

An Englishman returning from Central China claims Japanese‑sponsored papers in Shanghai and Hankow show Australian soldiers sweeping streets in Singapore and Rangoon while Japanese guards and coolies observe. He adds that Australian troops were used as labourers by Japan in Malaya and Burma in July.
