Methodists Bazaar Draws Big Crowd in Gloucester
Within half an hour of opening the Methodist Bazaar on Thursday night the six stalls were nearly empty as a large crowd swept up the wares. Held at the parsonage grounds, the event capped weeks of effort by the Rays and the Comrades. The tea served by Church Aid and Girls Comrades drew praise for its quality and service. Rev N Lynford Smith opened the bazaar at 7 30 pm, praising the organizers and predicting great success. The sale of work began immediately after the opening with brisk turnover as young stallholders ran the displays.

Stratford Red Cross Evening For Charity At Public Hall
Stratford Red Cross branch hosted an evening in the Public Hall on Friday November 7 featuring jumbles, cool drinks, ice cream, Ping Pong and quoits, with guessing competitions. Admission was one silver coin and £1 13s collected at the door plus stalls raising further totals. Gross takings reached £15 6s 3d with various prizes won by local residents. Proceeds to Red Cross Day funds and headquarters after expenses, plus a £2 donation to Christmas cheer planned and a euchre party scheduled for December with supper. Next branch meeting noted.

Everett Boland Wedding at St Andrews Concord
A quiet wedding took place at St Andrews Church of England Concord on October 21 with Norma Boland daughter of F Boland Gloucester marrying Cliff Everett son of A and Mrs Everett Barrington. Bridesmaid Nita Everett and best man Dick Boland attended. Reception at Paterson Street home of the bride’s brother followed by a farewell to Norma’s father who left for Norfolk Island. The couple later hosted an evening at the School of Arts. gifts and cheques were received.
