A Melbourne Cup Day flight from Newcastle to Sydney and on to Goulburn Cootamundra Seymour and Melbourne encountered dull weather with rain and low cloud. The Fairchild monoplane with a Warner engine faced headwinds and heavy cumulus causing a bumpy trip with limited visibility and a brief halt to refuel near Mascot.
