Gold mining boosts output with grants and labour increase
The Metalliferous Mining Conference reports that Commonwealth and State grants raised gold production for the year ended October by £2,500,000 with 680 men employed. Grants totalled £1,100,000 plus about £50,000 from states. In New South Wales funds supported leases, boring, surveys, and aerial work, revealing ore in the Cobar district. Senator McLachlan praised results and urged Australia's gold output to rival Canada’s.
