At a Gloucester RSL meeting the panel criticized the 20 000 land reservation rule and the 1000 advance for soldier settlement as impractical for dairy farms. A Grafton farmer, William Thompson, found a kangaroo entangled in a wire fence on his land and placed his old waistcoat on the marsupial containing a five pound note. The kangaroo hopped away wearing the garment, later revealing a hole in the waistcoat. Locals search the area for the animal.
