Gloucester Branch of the Primary Producers Union elected Arch McRae as President with A Archinal and H Muddle as vice presidents and M Newton as Secretary. Delegates include McRae Muddie Archinal A d B Laurie W J Stanton and A Brorson. meeting urged Brorson be a delegate and attend District Council sessions. The annual report praised attendance, noted managerial input from Brorson and Searle, and urged renewed farmer interest.
The Gloucester branch held its first annual meeting after its formation in 1957. Three meetings were held in the past year and attendance was not large. The secretary and president decided to hold meetings in the afternoon during a special cattle sale for convenience.
Members discussed improving attendance and representation to Shire Council and government bodies. H. T. Higgins reported on the Cattle Council, including beef classification and a potential advertising campaign. A resolution to lift wax match restrictions in the Gloucester district was passed, arguing lighting matches plays little role in bush fires and burning is often necessary.
