Early Manning History Excerpt From 1848 Colonial Report
An excerpt from the Sydney Morning Herald 2 March 1848 describes early Manning River settlement and attacks on cattle by Aboriginal people. Fenwick brothers abandon their station after cattle depredations and failed police help. 30 blacks camped at William Johnston Esquire’s station with arms and ammunition. The note asks for illumination on hurdles fences and the early stations.
