Striking of Extra Rate Considered for Rural Areas
Shire President Dr. P H Deady discussed an extra rate outside the Urban Area to fund new works programs. He argued the Urban Area bears higher land values and debts, while outer residents would repay via a separate levy to fund water, sewerage, and road improvements. He urged balancing burdens to support town improvements and road maintenance.
