Bowman fatality inquiry report details flame thrower tragedy

Inquest into the death of Mr Ellis at Bowman on Friday June 9 reveals he sustained extensive burns from a flame thrower while on property. Coroner and assisting officials describe shock and burns. evidence notes inflammable liquid and grass ignition. Witnesses include Sgt Hughes and Dr Munro. findings attribute death to burns and shock with the device used as contributing cause.

Mysterious Burns Case Attributed To Flame Thrower Incident

Coroner heard that a man used morphia with friends assistance to treat burns after a flame thrower incident. Supplies of tannic acid were prepared, an anesthetic given, and burns dressed. Death occurred at 10 10 p m. Witness described extensive burns and stated the flame thrower ignited him. Deceased had been working nearby.

Fatal blaze scene linked to flame thrower use

Eyewitnesses describe June incident on Isaac Ellis property where a flame thrower ignited, burning a man severely. Constable Beauzeville and others traced scorched blackberry patches and a container cap, while Sidney Smith and George Gore testified to the operator’s injury and the failed extinguishing attempts. Funeral arrangements and court hearings followed as relatives mourned the deceased.
