Outstanding Poultry Show With Record Entries At Showground

More than 500 entries stretched from Hydseye end to Grafton for a major poultry show at the showground. A new pavilion expanded facilities allowing all birds under one roof, with capacity for about 1000 birds. Champion tird was an Old English Game from Aberdeen, while Sid Ref earned best opposite sex with a White Wyandotte hen. Junior Farmer top bird was a White Leghorn hen exhibited by Kevin Burley, with other breed champions noted and a generally strong showing despite weaker cage-bird entries.

Combined Band Was Family Affair at Gloucester Event

The article notes Mr George Nichol and Tephew of the Gloucester bandmarker took part with the Nichol family. His father George Nichol senior, former Abermain town bandmaster, accompanied them. Coronation Avenue of Poplars Planted

A tree planting ceremony for Coronation and town jubilee celebrated with 28 trees planted by various town and district groups on Tuesday morning and 11 more by Gloucester Shire Council on Wednesday. Rotary Club helped prepare holes and guards under Health Inspector J W Murray. Frances Jones planted the Spastic Centre Council tree as a visiting drummer major, with the pipe band joining in.

Two Appeals For Spastic Centre In Gloucester

Gloucester Spastic Centre appeals for empty jam and pickle bottles for an August street effort and for orange domitions. Public may drop bottles with Mrs J W Hawdon or Mrs G Tilbrook while the council awaits more donations. A street stall is set for August 15 and a second appeal, buttons for Spastic Week, runs June 22 to 30.
