Mt George Sports 1944 fundraiser and Cup race results
The Mt George annual sports on 12 February raised over £60 to cut the Mt George School of Arts debt to under £200 with a goal to liquidate in 1944. Highlights include Charlie Engel winning the woodchop, F Livermore’s Trane winning the Mt George Cup, and W Winters’ Kiwarrick second. Officials, donations, a dance, and a presentation to Sergeant J Andrews marked the event, with plans for a rodeo and grounds improvements later.
