Morpeth era bushranger tale of Haynes and Angels capture
Sergeant Haynes a native of Emu Javis N S W and member of the South Wales Mounted Police recalls service under four Inspectors Generals and many superintendents. He joined the force in 1884 and helped pursue bushrangers Angel and Thurston near Gulgong. Angel died after being shot by Day at hospital while asking Haynes to shoot him. Thurston was killed by Burns. Angel claimed aims to reach Queensland and to shoot Burns. Angel once served as a trusted employee of cattle dealer William Evans at Coonamble.
