Disaster fires in Wingham wipe out shops and stock
One of Wingham’s worst fires in history struck early today at 1 am. The Blue Bird Cafe start spread to N Machin music shop and K Lyndon dressmaking, then Costello grocery, with Hammond’s store saved by volunteers. Bank of NSW upstairs damaged, losses exceed £2000 with all premises destroyed and stocks lost.
