Last week the Dairy Produce Control Board met in Sydney with T F Plunkett re elected Chairman and C H Frayser named NSW Executive representative. Australia exported 48 991 tons of butter in 1920/21 with 41 079 tons to the United Kingdom and 1 659 tons of cheese. Butter prices in London averaged 1152/9, down from the previous year due to world surplus and weak economy. The board discussed leveraging P J Carroll and F Wigan to aid exports and considered making Wigan available to factories. The 24 percent freight rebate on butter to the UK saved producers £8507 this season, with negotiations for next season under way and a push for self recording thermometers in refrigerating chambers. Revenue was £23 227 and expenditure £21 210, including £10 000 for UK advertising. Plans to publish an official monthly dairying journal were announced. NSW board members C Hi-Praser and C B D Meares were noted, with P Boxsell acting in Meares’ absence abroad.
