Menzies appeals for a fair go against Reds and inflation

Prime Minister Menzies spoke in Melbourne urging a fair go and a strong policy to break parliamentary deadlock. He outlined two major measures if returned: actions against Communists based on expert advice and a Defence Preparations Bill to curb inflation, criticizing Labour for obstructing progress and blaming high prices on production and sluggish labor. He denied simple price fixes as a solution. The transport minister promised to investigate a proposed realignment of the Pacific Highway north of Gloucester, with the chamber pressing for March consideration after government replies on the Gloucester to Taree stretch.
