The Glenwood Opinion in Mills County is a post office second class publication under the act of March 1. Rates are ten cents per word with a ten percent insertion charge up to sixty words, larger ads at twenty five cents per inch with ten line minimum and five cents per additional inch for display space.
In Maine's third district voters faced a hot race after Congressman Carpenter’s death. Republicans Democrats Progressives and Socialists field candidates. Roosevelt urged continued support for the Progressive ticket. Lone notes mention local social events and community visits as residents adjust to shifting political winds.
Wyed G. Myers, a carpenter, suffered a sore thumb after a mosquito bite. Blood poisoning set in and left him in a serious condition for several days. By the latest reports his condition has improved and he is expected to recover soon.
Rev Graves departs after four years at the Glenwood Methodist church to lead Woodbine with a $1400 annual salary. He and his family are warmly regarded and mourned locally as they move to a more promising post. His successor here is Rev Wm Stevenson from Clarinda, once an Atlantic district Presiding Elder, described as capable and with an active wife in church work.
Market report shows hogs ranging from 7.25 to 8.00 in the local market with a rare extreme. Chickens and fowl priced modestly with hens at 11 cents and young chickens around 14 cents. Butter posted at 75 cents per pound, corn 70 cents, oats 25 cents, eggs 18 cents, wheat 35 cents. Bram commodity selling at 1.50 per cwt with shorts and cracked corn at 1.75.
