The letter praises officers, Sergeant Bierman, and cooks Younker and Myers, lists daily drill times, meals, recreation, a battalion victory, boxing, wrestling, and two novelty events. A regimental field meet yields second place for Co I. Red Oak wins. Church services and a chicken dinner close the day.

Mrs Ely Sawyers and family depart for Jamaworth Nebraska after visiting relatives Grandma Sawyers. Prof and Mrs W G Bishop of Lincoln arrive tonight to visit Dr and Mrs Hester. Mrs Bishop, sister of Dr Hester, travels from Ames Town after visiting a brother professor there.
Senator Gillilland visited Malvern today while Supervisor Lakin traveled from Emerson for a board meeting Light rain fell last night. The funeral for Peter Rickabaugh drew ex soldiers. Several residents and visitors including John Fletcher and Mrs. Hickman toured Glenwood and nearby towns. Will Dean prepared materials for Elm Grove school house. Crew members from Camp Castle returned with furloughs. A swimming accident near Capt Humphrey ended with Lloyd Dunn saving him. The Stivers brothers planned entering construction work on regional rail lines.
Emerson hosts a baseball tournament at Chautauqua in Emerson this week with games against Malvern Henderson and Red Oak on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. Glenwood pitcher Carl Stimson, emerging star, will pitch for Emerson after helping Missouri Valley win at a prior tournament.
