Glenwood Opinion announces Mills County politics and national events

The January 15 1912 issue notes the national democratic convention set for June 25 in Baltimore and a U S infantry unit deployed to China to safeguard railway access. Osceola Sentinel Change of Ownership Reported

Osceola Sentinel editor J J Long and Blue Grass River to River road president sells to a new company. J M Abbott previously leased the paper with Scott Skinner, with Abbott moving to Des Moines to publish a good roads paper. Abbott now buys a controlling interest while Long holds part of the stock. Dr Agan shows slow recovery but remains largely bedbound.

District Court opens in Glenwood with Judge Logan

The January term of Mills County District Court will be presided over by Hon. Thomas Arthur Logan appointed to succeed Judge Green who moved to Congress. The grand jury of 12 will serve the four terms next year and 36 trial jurors will serve one term. County and township officials, auditors, and trustees presented bills and reports. The board adjourned to February 5 1912 and announced bids for bridge lumber. The next uniform county certificate exam will be held in Glenwood January 24-26 1912 starting at 8:00 AM.
