Fire at Elliott Destroys Cragg & Co Store

A defective flue caused a severe fire at Elliott early this week. Cragg & Co department store was largely consumed with losses estimated at 35000 and 20000 insured. Frozen water pipes and extreme cold hampered firemen but they prevented spread to adjacent buildings.
